WHAT IS SCRAMBLING?
Guided scrambling is a thrilling outdoor activity that combines elements of hiking and climbing. It involves ascending rocky terrain, where hands and feet are used for balance and support. This may involve walking over ridges, moving through exposed terrain or ascending easy rock climbing sections to make progress.

Lake District Mountaineering offers a private guiding service for scrambling & mountaineering all over the national park. For this service we engage local, active and experienced Mountaineering Instructors to support you on your journey and offer a high quality experience for LDM customers.
These privates days work best for small groups and individuals that are looking for a more focussed experience towards achieving a technical mountain day or looking to complete a specific scramble.
Our private guided days allow us to focus on you and your group, this allows for tailored instruction and coaching to take place.
On enquiry we will discuss your objectives and aspirations as well as your experience levels, this will allow for us to create a bespoke programme for you.
Scrambling is a fantastic way to explore the mountains, include a scramble as part of your mountain journey to create an exciting and memorable day in the hills.

Ratios
1:4 Ratio - Grade I
1:2 Ratio - Grade II & III
Safety is paramount so no more than 2 people per 1 instructor in technical terrain.
A party larger than 2 will require multiple instructors for grade III - we can supply instructors adhering to our ratios - please enquire.
Pre-Requisites
No experience necessary
A head for heights in beneficial
For grade III - it is beneficial if you can wear and fit a harness correctly
But we can teach you how to do this and show you how to tie in safely
We can run the day in line with your experiences and skillset and tailor the day for you.
Equipment
All technical equipment is provided.
We will share kit lists with you during the booking stage
Harness & Helmet provided but
you can bring your own
You will need to wear suitable outdoor clothing and suitable mountain footwear (boots)
Venue
Our venues are carefully selected and tailored to get the most out of the programme.
We can select venues close to your accommodation where possible.
Example venues include: Pinnacle Ridge, Cam Crag Ridge, Middlefell Buttress, Crescent Climb, Jack's Rake etc

We can supply additional instructors for larger groups - 1:2 ratio for safety in this terrain. For every 2 people we can supply an additional guide.
